As an integral part of our estate, Sedgemoor Auction Centre opened its doors in January 2008 after a one year build program.

Sedgemoor Auction Centre is sited adjacent to a prehistoric animal gathering site which lends itself to this purpose built, privately owned auction centre we visit today. The auction centre replaces Highbridge and Taunton livestock markets as well as offering businesses, shops and offices a base and modern facilities to the local community.

Three regular markets are held each week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, with additional sales held on Thursdays. Orange Markets trading TB affected cattle are held monthly on a Wednesday.

The auction centre, partner managed by Greenslade, Taylor & Hunt, was built after an initial survey conducted by the Regional Development Agency which recognised that original livestock markets had outgrown their town centre locations, and there was a need to move to a location on a regional scale. However, the historic links to the community was to be strengthened by offering rural and local businesses a platform to promote themselves under the banner of regional rural businesses from within the auction centre and surrounding area.
